Edmonton Mini World Cup 2014

On June 9th 2014 about 700 German Bilingual students will compete for the Mini World Cup 2014. This year's tournament will be hosted by Rio Terrace School, 7608 154 St NW.

All grade 1 to 6 students from the 3 German Bilingual Elementary schools in Edmonton will take part in this fantastic event.

700 Students

All grade 1 to 6 students from Forest Heights School, Rideau Park School and Rio Terrace School come together to compete for the "The Cup"

32 Teams

32 random teams are put together. Each team has boys and girls from all three schools and all 6 grades. Everyone has the opportunity to form new contacts and friendships.

78 Games

A well thought-out tournament system allows the teams to play 78 Games on 6 fields to determine the winner!

After 2006 and 2012 this year is the third time the German Bilingual program is organizing a Mini Soccer Cup in Edmonton. The Association for English-German Bilingual Education (AEGBEE) along with Alberta Education and the Zentralstelle für Auslandsschulwesen (ZfA) make this event possible!

Some of the Media Response in 2012

The tournament was very well received in 2012. 3 television stations aired a clip on the news. The Edmonton Journal published a picture gallery. The Albertaner published an article in the July 2012 edition, too. Have a look at the links below
